The Manufacturing's Operational Opportunities dinner forum will gather an audience of 30 senior executives to discuss the opportunities available to the manufacturing industry in the aftermath of the recession. The findings of a research report will be discussed at the dinner.

Theme
In recent years, there has been increasing discussion about the need to create a "value-added" economy, maximising the difference between the cost of a product or service and the price that can be charged for it. Many manufacturers have now proved adept at revitalising their business propositions and increasing their revenue streams by developing their after-market services, or creating consulting or design service businesses.

Guest speaker
We are delighted to be joined by Sir John Chisholm, Chairman, NESTA; Former Executive Chairman, QinetiQ.

Research
The Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by Siemens PLM, has embarked on a programme of research to explore the operational changes manufacturers are making to add value to their business - and optimise their ability to emerge from the current downturn and the findings of the research will be discussed at this event.

About Siemens PLM Software

Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division, is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 6.7 million licensed seats and 63,000 customers worldwide.

Through Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), manufacturers' capability to optimise their operations to emerge from the recession is greatly increased, enabling an improved path to innovation, industry leadership and top-line growth.

PLM enables the kind of convergence that Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management prompted in the past. In the early 90s, ERP unified finance, HR, manufacturing and warehouse systems. A decade later, CRM brought call centre and sales force automation together. Now, Computer-Aided Design, Computer-Aided Manufacturing, Product Data Management and Manufacturing Process Management are converging through PLM.

Yet PLM is unique from other solutions because it focuses on driving top-line revenue from repeatable product design and manufacturing processes.
