The Global Energy Conversation

The live event will run on November 18th 2011.
It will be divided into three sessions.

  • Which energy sources and technologies offer the best method of increasing supply and reducing carbon emissions over the next forty years?
  • How can we identify and then stimulate new energy innovations that will help us increase supply and reduce emissions?
  • How might the so-called 'unconventional gas revolution' affect the renewables vs. non-renwewables debate?
  • Post Fukushima, to what extent should states reassess their approach to nuclear power?
  • In the effort to reduce carbon emissions, what kind of behavioural changes is it realistic to expect of businesses and consumers?
  • What role can energy efficiency play in helping to achieve energy security and reduce emissions?
  • What incentives should be given to households and businesses to encourage them to improve their energy efficiency?

  • What key policy changes and investments are needed to increase energy supply and reduce emissions over the next 40 years?
  • What should the balance be between government and market action in uncovering energy solutions?
  • What do panellists expect from the Durban climate change conference? And what should be the next steps in multilateral climate change negotiations?
