Wim Thomas Wim Thomas is Chief Energy Advisor in Shell and heads the Energy Analysis Team in Shell’s Global Scenario Group, which is part of the Corporate Strategy Department. He and his team are responsible for worldwide energy analyses, long-term global energy scenarios, and advise Shell companies on a wide range of energy issues. Mr Thomas is a UK member to the World Petroleum Council and advises the World Energy Council’s energy scenario workstream. |

Joan MacNaughton An influential figure in the energy and climate policy debate in a variety of UK, EU and international roles, Joan MacNaughton helped to put climate change at the centre of energy policy, oversaw the energy agenda during the UK’s Presidency of the EU, led the energy work agreed at the G8 Gleneagles Summit, and Chaired the Governing Board of the International Energy Agency. |

Reg Platt Reg Platt is a research fellow for the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR). He has responsibility for developing policy positions across a wide range of domestic climate and energy issues including micro-renewables, energy efficiency, behaviour change, community-led initiatives, clean tech and corporate sustainability. He manages and undertakes research, and liaises frequently with a broad range of stakeholders including senior government officials, NGOs, and industry groups. Previously he co-founded Transition Town Brighton, a community-led initiative to increase sustainability and reduce carbon emissions, and holds an MSc in Environment, Science and Society with distinction from University College London. Mr Platt regularly writes for publications including the Guardian online, Left Foot Forward and the Ecologist, and has appeared on BBC Radio 5. |

Allan Kardec Duailibe Allan Kardec Duailibe is currently Director of the Brazilian National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels. He is a researcher and Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA). Mr Duailibe is also a researcher at the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and one of the founders of the doctorate course in biotechnology at Northeast Network on Biotechnology (RENORBIO, in Portuguese). |

Professor José Goldemberg A Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Professor Goldemberg has served as the President of the Brazilian Association for the Advancement of Science, and President of the Energy Company of the State of São Paulo (CESP). Between 1990 and 1992, he was Brazil’s Secretary of State for Science and Technology and Minister of State for Education. More recently, between 2002 and 2006, he was Secretary for the Environment of the State of São Paulo. He is presently Professor Emeritus of the University of São Paulo. |

Paulo Puterman Named by Veja Magazine as one of Brazil’s most innovative thinkers, Paulo Puterman is the founder of Sykué Bioenergia, Brazil’s first biomass thermoelectric plant. Mr Puterman holds a PhD in Sociology from Universidade de São Paulo and is currently finalising research that compares solar bio-energy and photovoltaic in terms of electricity conversion and storage efficiency. His research has enabled him to recently found Inovah Energy, where he presently serves as director. |

Ed Whittingham Ed Whittingham is the Executive Director of the Pembina Institute, a leading Canadian Environmental Think Tank. Through his work, Mr Whittingham regularly advises governments, transnational companies, NGOs and research networks on energy issues. Prior to becoming Executive Director in January 2011, Mr Whittingham directed Pembina's consulting programme, through which he led a variety of stakeholder, policy and technical analysis projects around sustainable energy production and consumption. |

He was invited to the White House to meet with President Obama to discuss innovation and job creation in the green economy. Prior to founding Opower, Mr Laskey enjoyed a career in politics and policy, serving as a campaign manager, strategist, and public-opinion analyst for several candidates. |

Gregory Kats Gregory Kats is President of Capital E, a national clean energy advisory firm, and is also Venture Partner at Good Energies, a billion-dollar global clean energy investor, where he leads investments inenergy efficiency and high performance buildings. Mr Kats serves on six boards, advises Citigroup on scaling energy efficiency financing, and is Sustainability Advisor to CalPERS. He served for five years as the Director of Financing for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the US Department of Energy, where he led national programmes to develop and deploy renewable energy, energy efficiency and advanced building technologies. |

John Norris Commissioner John Norris was nominated by President Barack Obama to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and confirmed by the US Senate for a term expiring in June 2012. Mr Norris, a lawyer, has years of experience in energy policy and regulatory affairs. He most recently served as Chief of Staff to Secretary Tom Vilsack of the US Department of Agriculture. Prior to joining the USDA, he served as Chairman of the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) from 2005 to 2009. During his tenure as IUB Chairman, Commissioner Norris served on the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) Electricity Committee and was Co-Chair of the 2009 National Electricity Delivery Forum. Commissioner Norris also has served on the Board of Directors of the National Regulatory Research Institute, as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Iowa Power Fund and on the Advisory Councils of the Iowa Energy Centre, the Financial Research Institute for the University of Missouri College of Business and the Centre for Global and Regional Environmental Research at the University of Iowa. |
