Awards 2010

This year's Innovation Awards Ceremony will be taking place on the evening of October 21st 2010 at the Science Museum, London.

The Background of this unique event

The Economist was established in 1843 to take part in a "severe contest between intelligence, which presses forward, and an unworthy, timid ignorance obsctructing our progress". One of the chief ways in which intelligence presses forward is through innovation, which is now recognised as one of the most important contributors to economic growth. Innovation, in turn, depends on the creative individuals who dream up new ideas and turn them into reality. The Economist recognises these talented individuals through our annual Innovation Awards.

The leading Annual Innovation gathering

Described as the "Oscars of Innovation", The Economist celebrates the ideas shaping our world in this exclusive invitation-only annual ceremony held at the Science Museum, London. This prestigious occasion represents the culmination of a global nomination process amongst Economist readers followed by shortlist assesssment from a judging panel of key experts. It is the only event of its kind focusing on the interface between innovation and business.
