The 2009 Emerging Markets Summit - United Kingdom

Emerging Markets 2009 speakers

Over 300 senior executives from 20 countries met at the Park Plaza Riverbank, London on September 17th-18th for a lively debate on emerging markets.

Speakers included three heads of state, leading policy-makers, and chief executives of some of the world’s largest corporations. The diverse programme, and the participation of more than 300 delegates, ensured a lively discussion around some of the most pressing issues affecting both emerging markets, and the global economy as a whole.

Emerging markets have never played a more important role in the global economy. With most major economies in the developed world in recession, all eyes are turning towards China, India and the other leading emerging markets as major destinations for business opportunities and as the engines for future growth. Multinational businesses increasingly see these countries as a huge opportunity to grow their business in exciting new directions. And governments around the world recognise that, as these countries grow in confidence, they will expect a much greater say in global governance.

Discussions centred around some of the most pressing themes affecting both emerging markets, and the global economy as a whole.
