Review: The UK Energy Summit - United Kingdom
| Last week's UK Energy Summit assembled 140 industry figures and independent experts to thrash out a framework for transforming our nation into a low-carbon economy; in keeping with rising global climate levels, debates were heated. Chaired by the BBC's Roger Harrabin, the summit kicked off with a keynote address from Chris Huhne, incoming Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, who has been making his fair share of the headlines recently. Mr Huhne stated his aim for "Britain to lead the world in decarbonising the economy. To power the second industrial revolution - the green revolution." Huhne was followed by a range of influential thinkers from across the industry, including Sir David King, Sam Laidlaw, Alistair Buchanan and, to crank up the controversy a notch further, George Monbiot.
